දුප්පත්කම, නියඟය , ආදරය, අසහනය, වස්තුව , බලය , තණ්හාව මෙන්ම මානව දයාවත් සමෝසමේ කතාව සමග ගලාගෙන යනවා. වංලු සිය බිරිය ඕලෑං නිවසට කැඳවා එන තැනෙහි පටන් , ඔවුන් දරුමල්ලන් හදා වඩාගෙන , නොයෙක් ස්වභාවික ව්‍යසනයන්ට මුහුණ දෙමින් සිය තරුණ සහ මහලු විය කරා පියවරින් පියවර ඇදෙන අයුරුත් , හදිසියේ ඇති වන කැ‍රැල්ලක ප්‍රතිපල වශයෙන් වංලුං හදිසි ධවතකු මෙන්ම නව බිරියකුත් සමග අලුත් ජීවිතයකට අව්තීර්න වන අයුරුත් මෙහි සටහන් වෙනවා.
මේ කාලය තුල ගලා යන වෛරය , දුක , ශෝකය , මෙන්ම ආශාවන්ද සැබෑ ලතෙත් මානව දයාවකින් යුතුව පර්ල් ඇස් බක් , සාර භූමි'හි පින්තාරු කොට තිබෙනවා.
මේ හෙයින්ම 1931 ලියැවුනු මේ දුලබ සාහිත්‍ය නිර්මාණයට පුලිට්සර් සම්මානයත් , 1931 සහ 1932 වසර වල ඇමෙරිකාවේ ඉහළම පොත් අලෙවි වාර්තාවත්, එමතු නොව, 1938 වර්ෂයේ පර්ල් ඇස් බක්ට නොබෙල් සාහිත්‍ය ත්‍යාගයත් හිමි වීමට මං පෙත් විවර කරදීමට තරම් මේ කෘතිය හේතු වී තිබෙනවා.
ලෝක සාහිත්‍යයේ බොහෝ සංවේදී ලියැවීම් අතරින් , සියවසකට ඉහත පමණ ලියැවුනු මේ පොත විසින් , දශකයකට ඉහත පමණ මා මනසේ ඇති කළ මානව හිතවාදී කම්පනය අදත් මා සිතේ නොමැකී පවතිනවා.
